Excitement is in the air once again as the 2013 Midwest Drift Union season is announced right before the New Year. The season will be kicking off with a Drift Indy / ClubFR collaboration for a two day smoke fest at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, IL. We’ll be returning to our home track, Lucas Oil Raceway, for the series opener with the popular 2012 track layout. Continuing on to Gateway Motorsports Park for Round 2, it will mark the return of a ProAm series to Gateway since our 2010 inaugural series. Round 3 is an exciting event, slated for downtown Detroit, a high speed course set in the streets! And it all builds up to Round 4 at Street Life Tour, where the 2013 champion will be made.
The Midwest Drift Union ProAm Series is working closely with many Midwest organizations to find the best possible talent in the region to feed to the Formula Drift Professional Series circuit. Midwest Drift Union produced the 2011 Formula Drift ProAm All Star after the win had by Brian Peter at Irwindale Speedway, and is looking to repeat in 2013 with one of the many great drivers competing in the Midwest.
The program has built talented Formula Drift drivers such as Mike Feiock, Mike Skudlarek, and the 2012 Midwest Drift Union Champion “Magic” Mike Pollard who is expected to make his debut in the professional series at Long Beach this upcoming April.
